Does the Clarify Lesson Series Support LGBTQIA+ Families?

Dec 09, 2024

As a parent, one of the most important questions you can ask is: How can I best support my child’s understanding of their body, relationships, and identity?

Recently, I've been receiving questions from parents asking if my Clarify Lesson Series is designed to support LGBTQIA+ families. The answer is simple: Absolutely.

When I set out to create these lessons, my goal was clear: to provide foundational, inclusive, and fact-based sex education for every child.

Why Foundational Sex Education is Critical for All Kids

I believe that foundational sex education is a fundamental human right. Every child deserves to understand how their bodies work, how they grow, and how they transition into adulthood. They need to know how babies are made, how they’re born, and how to care for their growing bodies.

But it’s not just about biology. Children also need to understand how their brains develop, how this affects their emotions, relationships, and their sense of attraction. It’s essential that they learn the emotional aspects of growing up—how relationships work, how affection is expressed, and how attraction forms.

Inclusive, Yet Flexible: Tailored to Your Family’s Needs

I’m not here to tell you what your family values should be, and I’m certainly not here to dictate how you should raise your child. What I am here to do is give you the tools to have meaningful, age-appropriate conversations with your children about sex, relationships, and self-awareness—on your terms.

The Clarify Lesson Series is built to be adaptable and customizable to fit your unique family dynamics, culture, and values. I don’t provide a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, I offer a comprehensive, fact-based foundation, with the freedom for parents to guide and personalize the content.

One of the most powerful aspects of the series is the Parent Guides. These guides aren’t just a supplemental resource—they’re the gold of the program. They lead you through a reflective process that explores your past, present, and hopes for the future, helping you connect the lessons to your family’s specific needs and beliefs.

Whether you're an LGBTQIA+ family or a family with different cultural or faith backgrounds, you can use this material to teach your children in a way that feels right to you.

What You Won’t Get in Schools: Emotional Education, Slang, and Safety

What sets Clarify apart is that it goes beyond what traditional sex education covers. In the series, I explain not only the science of sex, but also the emotional aspects of relationships, attachment, and safety. I break down common slang and cultural terms kids might encounter. I talk about brain development and how it shapes emotions and behaviors.

The lessons are designed to help you talk to your child in an open, compassionate way—because I believe these conversations should be more than just about facts. It’s about building understanding, empathy, and kindness.

Creating Confidence, Self-Esteem, and Healthy Relationships

The Clarify Lesson Series isn’t just about the mechanics of sex—it’s about helping children build self-esteem, confidence, and a healthy understanding of relationships. By discussing boundaries, consent, and emotional well-being, we empower children to navigate their world with clarity and confidence.

I believe that no one is better suited to have these conversations than you, the parent. And that’s why I’ve made it my mission to make this material accessible, adaptable, and truly transformative for every family.

Why Parents Should Be the Guide in Their Child’s Sex Education

Parents are the first and most important educators when it comes to sex education. The Clarify series provides you with the resources to confidently talk to your child about these topics—tailored to your family’s unique context.

In the end, this series is my best effort to create something life-changing for every child, regardless of their family structure or background. Whether you’re a parent of an LGBTQIA+ child, a child in a single-parent home, or a child growing up in a multicultural family, this series helps you meet your child where they are and guide them through the complexities of growing up.
